Clear Skies for Baja California While Baja Sur Smells Smoke from California Fires

   Weather  in Baja California

Surface Chart / Satellite IR

09AM MDT 10/26/07 Baja will enjoy more wonderful Fall weather, clear skies and seasonable temperatures. Baja Sur will reach the low 90's and Baja California the low 70's. This is good news for the fire fighters battling the blazes on the southern side of the border as well as those in California. If you thought you smelled smoke in Baja Sur yesterday, it's possible it came from San Diego. The counter clockwise rotation of the Low (yellow arrow) was bringing some of the smoke that blew out to sea from SoCal earlier in the week. Down south a Low (green arrow) is Dissipating and a High is over Mexico City. There is a Low (magenta arrow) just east of our map that has some chance for tropical cyclone development in the Caribbean, as it heads NNW toward the Yucatan. There are a few more tropical waves headed toward us, arriving early next week. Although Baja is pretty much clear of a cyclone threat, the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season runs through November 30.
